The Feast of the Annunciation is celebrated on the 29th of Paremhotep, commemorating the divine announcement of the Archangel Gabriel to St. Mary regarding the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords. This feast is the one of the Seven Major Feasts of the Lord. The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary: God has shown you his grace. 31 Listen! You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of King David, his ancestor. 33 He will rule over the people of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.”-Luke 1:30-33 ... See MoreSee Less

Today we commemorate the departure of the revered father and hegumen, Abouna Bishoy Kamel was a serving priest in Egypt and LA from 1959-1979. A main theme that resonates from his life is service to others, as even before he was a priest and after finishing masses which he led, he would always spend every waking second of the day to assist those in need. He never valued anything worldly and threw it under his feet. He did not veer from providing money to the poor and those in need whenever they requested it of him. He walked a life of faith and kept the Lord as the gem of his eye. He once stated that “Our pleasure is not of this fading world, but in heaven”. In this quote, we clearly see a reflection of the life he chose to live. He fought many sickness such as cancer in which he referred to it as “the disease of Paradise”.“People don’t need to hear about Christ anymore; They have heard enough they rather need to see Christ In Us.-Fr.Bishoy Kamel. May His Blessings Be With Us All! ... See MoreSee Less
